PL and APL Scout Tramp

On Saturday the 11th of March at 1.30pm the PL, APL, Steve, George and Carina set out on a tramp to the sign of the Packhorse Hut, which started at Kaituna Valley. Kaituna valley is located near Gebbies Pass and on the way to Little Akaroa.

The Tramp was timetabled to take about 2-3 hours, but even though it was all up hill it only took us one and half hours. Everyone was relived to get to the hut and seeing that it was only us in the hut.

This soon changed and by 7 o’clock there were over 20 for a 9 bed hut. Thanks to the great humor in us all we got over it and Cameron, Logan, Aaron, Marlon and myself ended up sleeping outside in a bivouac like tent.

We had also brought a tent and so George slept in there. One activity that we did with the other people in the hut was rolling down an incredibly steep hill. Everyone found this fun. Soon enough bedtime came as well as the wind and rain. I don’t think anyone got a good sleep that night.

At about 11 the next morning we decided to leave on a different track. This Track went through the forest and along the side of mountains and roads. This was a very good track and all of us enjoyed it. This tramp was very successful from my point of view. I enjoyed it and I think and hope that everyone else did as well. I would like to thank George, Steve and Carina for taking the time to come on this great tramp.
